Blog post 1/3- GIFs
7-11/10/19

For this mission we got into groups of 3, my group consisted of myself, Tochi and Francis.
We all agreed that we wanted to do GIFs for this mission. Francis was familiar with GIFs; how to make them, the history of them etc, but it was all new to Tochi and I. Francis's knowledge about GIFs made this mission so much better and easier for us, especially as it was our first, it was really nice to have that helping hand, he taught us a lot, and showed us how to create the GIFs and let us create our own.

We met up a few times to divide the work evenly and of course to take pictures/videos for our GIFs, we chose to be the subjects of our GIFs instead using an already existing GIF, to make it kind of personal to us.

We all did research on the history of GIFs, how, what, when, why they were created, etc and put all the information on a shared google document between the three of us. We brainstormed ideas for each GIF and tried multiple different methods to make them; like where they were gonna be taken, of who, how, of what etc. Coming up with the different ideas for the GIFs was very enjoyable because not only wasn’t personal and was going to be made by us but there was a sense of originality to it. We took our pictures and videos on campus because that was what was most convenient for us.

We had very different expectations to what we produced, we thought the GIFs were going to be really hard to make as we had no knowledge about the topic, minus Francis whom reassured us that we were gonna do great.

We created a presentation and put all of the information from our research on it but realized it was way too long (12 slides full of information) and the class would’ve probably got really bored if we presented that, so we decided to have very few slides on research (4) and more on the GIFs.

For the presentation we decided that Francis would present most of the GIFs that were created by us part as he knew a lot more about it than we did despite all the research that was carried out.

The end product we wished to produce was to create seven GIFs that were made by us and not ones we found on the internet already, we wanted to make it personal.

Making the gifs was really enjoyable and knowledgeable. The pictures and videos were taken on my phone and were then created into GIFs using the app “Shortcuts” which basically simplified the process and made the GIF for us, we just had to add our videos and pictures.  Of all the missions this one would have to be my favorite, it was a good start to this module.
